With the limited use of certain hazardous materials in electric or electronic applications (RoHS: Restriction of the us of certain Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic equipment) according to the EU-rule 2002/92/EG hazardous substances have been banned from electrical products (plomb, quicksilver, cadmium, chromate (VI), PBB, PBDE). Therefore electrical and electronic appliances, which contain substances named in this guideline, may no longer be sold in the countries of the European Union as of 1st July 2006
