Microtherm enters a new business segment – the solar technology
Since April 2010 the company based in Pforzheim produces aluminum solar junction boxes – following the highest quality requirements. The junction boxes integrate electronic components which connect the different strings of the solar panels to each other.
In Microtherm’s own factory in Dongguan, south of China, a completely new production area was created for this new development – kept completely separated from the production of the thermostats, heating elements and toys.
“It was raised up a special production line and the necessary machines and equipment were bought”, underlines Mr. Volz, director of technical division.
All in all, Microtherm hired 40 new employees, who are solely responsible for producing the junc-tion boxes. The production plant Dongguan has a monthly capacity of 50.000 pieces – due to rapid growth and demand, the forecast already schedules a doubling of capacity for the year 2011. Moreover the production area should be extended and in addition to the already 2 existing types of boxes, there will be launched a third execution.
“I´m convinced, that Microtherm had made the right step towards the future with this development”, says Volz. “This way we will establish and strengthen continuously in the next months.”
